Availability
Evidently we need to check if there are enough musicians available on the date of possible concert. If there is a problem to book the full orchestra or the concert location is too small, we sometimes work with a "partial group" of musicians (limited amount of musicians of the orchestra who form an ensemble for a specific occasion).
Conditions
Concert location with good accoustical qualities
Preferably we like to play at a concert location with good accoustical qualities because of the limited volume of sound of plucked string instruments. This will of course also benefit the natural sound for the audience.
Open air or with amplification
If there is no concert location available where we can play acoustically, and with all open air concerts, decent amplification is required. The PA is to be provided by the organizer of the concert with a minimum of 6 condenser microphones (depending on the available musicians this might be more), with permanent supervision of a sound engineer, and the possibility of a sound check one hour before the show. The other parts (amplifier etc) of the PA are depedant upon the exact location and are to be discussed between organizer and sound engineer of the orchestra.
Dimensions performance area
The area where the orchestra will perform must be minimally 8 meters wide and 6 meters deep, if possible on a stage and of course with enough chairs (without arm supports). If the location is too small for the full orchestra, we sometimes work with a "partial group" of musicians (limited amount of musicians of the orchestra who form an ensemble for a specific occasion).
Tuning room
The orchestra requires a tuning room to be able to tune the instruments before the performance. If possible this room should be somewhere quite without too much noise, close to the stage and with a minimal temperature difference to thestage. There should be enough room for all musicians, and if possible a second room as 'conversation room', both preferably heated and at our service from about 1,5 hours before the start of the concert.
